‘Stop Preferential Treatment In Rape Allegation’…Advocate Slams Government

A gender-based advocate, Vickjune Headliner Wolute, is calling on the government to stop giving preferential treatment to the deputy minister who has been accused of raping a 14-year-old girl. Speaking to reporters on Monday, September 15, 2025, Wolute claimed that the government is treating allegation of rape involving Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, J. Bryant McGill with limited attention, thus denying the alleged rape victim justice.
According to her, the fact that the Ministry of Gender has confirmed having the alleged rape survivor in a safe home is evidence enough to prove that the deputy minister should be behind bars awaiting justice from the court. The rape allegation against the Deputy Minister has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation. Citizens are demanding justice for the victim and calling for the Deputy Minister’s resignation. The Liberia National Police has confirmed the allegations but said investigation is ongoing.
